Family Mediation Services  Discover A Better Way Forward

Separation can feel overwhelming, but resolving your family matters doesn’t have to mean conflict. Family mediation is a confidential, non-adversarial process that helps couples resolve parenting, support, property, and financial matters respectfully and cooperatively — without going to court.

As neutral and accredited mediators, we provide a safe, balanced space for open and productive conversations. Together, we focus on creating practical, child-focused solutions that reflect your family’s unique needs and priorities.

Mediation empowers you to stay in control of the outcome, reduce emotional and financial stress, and build sustainable agreements that work for everyone — rather than having decisions imposed by a third party or judge.

At Forward Family Mediation, we believe every family deserves a path forward that is respectful, informed, and centered on what matters most — your future and your children’s well-being.

Parenting Plans

A parenting plan is a clear, written agreement that helps parents outline how they will co-parent their children while supporting each other. It will include schedules for parenting time, decision-making responsibilities, holiday arrangements, and other important details that provide stability and consistency for children.

A well-designed parenting plan reduces conflict, sets clear expectations, and keeps the focus on the best interests of the child(ren). Every family is unique, and parenting plans can be tailored to reflect the needs and circumstances of each situation.

Voice Of The Child (VOC) Reports

Forward Family Mediation is pleased to connect families with Voice of the Child (VOC) Reports, offered directly by Susan Cook, a qualified mental health professional with over 20 years of experience. She is a Certified Specialist-Parenting Coordination, Certified Specialist-Family Mediation, and Certificated in Children’s Mental Health.

A VOC Report provides children with a safe and supportive space to share their perspectives during family transitions. The  process is designed to respectfully capture their thoughts, feelings, and wishes about specific issues that affect them. This gives parents, mediators, and the court valuable insight into the child’s experiences and preferences while keeping the focus on their best interests.

It is important to choose a qualified professional with training and experience in family law when hiring a divorce coach and/or parenting coach, rather than someone whose approach is primarily based on their own personal divorce experience supported by minimal training.

Optional Administrative Services

Forward Family Mediation offers optional administrative services designed to help you take the next step after reaching an agreement in mediation. Whether you’re finalizing a separation agreement or completing the paperwork for an uncontested divorce, we can guide you through the process with clarity and support.

Disclaimer:  Forward Family Mediation provides information and document-preparation support only; we do not offer legal advice. Clients are encouraged to seek independent legal counsel before finalizing any agreement.

Moving  From  Agreement
To  Action

Forward Family Mediation also offers optional administrative services to take your mediated terms to the next step.

Separation Agreement Drafting Support (Optional Add-On)

Once you and the other party reach a resolution in mediation, Forward Family Mediation can provide optional administrative support to help move your agreement toward the legal drafting stage.

We can take the terms set out in your Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and convert them into a first-draft separation agreement. This draft is not legal advice or a legally binding document, but rather a structured starting point to help streamline the process when you meet with your respective lawyers. Each party must take the draft separation agreement to their own lawyer for Independent Legal Advice (ILA). Your lawyer will review the terms with you, explain your rights and obligations, make any necessary revisions, and complete the final version for signing. This ensures your agreement is fair, clear, and legally sound.

Uncontested Divorce Administrative Support

If you and your former partner have already resolved parenting, support, and property issues, Forward Family Mediation can assist with the administrative and organizational steps involved in preparing for an uncontested divorce (joint or simple). We help you gather the required information and guide you through the process so you understand what is needed and what happens next

What we do

  • Provide a checklist of required information (IDs, dates, marriage certificate, prior orders, etc.).

  • Help you organize the information needed for the court forms.

  • Assist you in understanding which forms are required and how they are typically completed.

  • Assemble your documents into a clear package for you to review with a lawyer.

  • Provide a plain-language roadmap for filing (online or in person), service, and typical timelines.

What we don’t do

  • We do not provide legal advice or legal opinions.

  • We do not complete or sign court forms on your behalf unless under the supervision of a lawyer.

  • We do not file documents with the court or pay court fees.

  • We do not communicate with the court or the other party’s lawyer.

  • We do not replace Independent Legal Advice (ILA).

ILA strongly recommended

Before you file, your documents should be reviewed and discussed with your own lawyer through Independent Legal Advice (ILA), especially if children, support, or property are involved.

âš  Important: Forward Family Mediation provides document preparation and information only. We do not give legal advice or act for you in court. All drafts and completed forms should be reviewed with your own lawyer through ILA before filing. You are responsible for filing, service, and court fees.
